A thermal power plant with an installed capacity of 48 MW for electricity and 190 Gcal/h for heat was commissioned. Under its jurisdiction, a Heat Network Workshop was established, laying the foundation for Darkhan city’s heat supply system and heat network organization. At that time, it supplied heat energy to 7 consumers with a total load of 2 Gcal/h.

The thermal power plant was expanded with 3 BKZ-75-39FB boilers, increasing the heat production capacity of the source to 236 Gcal/h for water and 113 Gcal/h for steam.

1990
By Order No. 20 dated June 4, 1990, of the Minister of Heavy Industry, the Heat Network Department of Darkhan City was reorganized as an independent entity under the name Darkhan City Heat Network Department.

Pursuant to a decree of the Governor of Darkhan-Uul Province, housing maintenance companies were dissolved, and the heat distribution networks of residential districts, central heat distribution points, along with heat energy sales, were transferred to this organization.

By Resolution No. 164 of the Government of Mongolia dated July 9, 2001, the entity was restructured and transformed into “Darkhan Thermal Network” State-Owned Joint Stock Company.
